Battery Electric Vehicles in a Nutshell

Scientists have been in quest of a new source of energy for a long period of time. The ideal energy should be renewable and will cause no harmful pollution. In search of a suitable energy they have discovered battery electric vehicles that store electric charge for future use. These vehicles are commonly referred to as BEVs. Like in any other electric vehicles, electric motors and motor controllers are used for propulsion in BEVs. There are certain advantages of using BEV that can be summed up as follows:
1. Air pollution is posing a serious problem before us. Emission of pollutants by industries and vehicles are continuously adding to Carbon-Monoxide (CO) in the air and thus aggrandizing the level of air pollution. In case of BEV, no pollutants are released into air thereby lessening the degree of air pollution.
2. An earnest effort has been made to replace Gasoline thereby reducing independence on foreign commodities. It is possible to generate electrical energy stored in battery, using any source of energy that emanates from renewable, natural gas, coal, petroleum or nuclear.
3. Another purpose of using BEVs is that it reduces the blaring noises and that come as a relief especially in residential areas.
With the advancement in the field of battery technology, battery electric vehicles are making waves in the automobile industry. Automobiles, light trucks, domestic electric vehicles all fall under the category of BEVs.
