Another name for Hydraulic cylinder is hydraulic motor. It is a type of material-handling-equipment.It works on an upward force implied on them from a unidirectional hit. Hydraulic cylinders are mechanical actuators which puts materials in an automatic design. They deliver great power. These are mostly applicable in engineering vehicles like cranes, bulldozers, dump trucks loaders and many more. These engineering vehicles are used to do the engineering work in the industrial sectors. The pressure exerted on these hydraulic cylinders is through a fluid which is most likely to be a kind of oil. The hydraulic cylinders are consisting of a cylinder tub in which a piston is joined to the piston rod that moves forward and backward. The tub is closed on both the end by cylinder bottoms which are also known as caps. The piston divides the cylinder in to two parts. That is the bottom chamber and the top chamber. The bottom chamber is known as cap end and the top chamber is known as the piston rod side end or simply rod end.
The equation on which these hydraulic cylinders work is a very simple mathematical logic. The technique behind calculating the force applied on these hydraulic cylinders is equal to the product of pressure times the piston area. Initially the hydraulic cylinders were used in heavy equipments manufacturing industry but now they have various domestic applications too. Their major areas for domestic application are regular automotive parts, door stoppers, elevators, conventional car parts and etc. These add safety in our domestic lives.
